Vascular Center

For Ken Wittman of New Hartford, it was problems with his legs that brought him to the Vascular Center. "My arteries kept narrowing, but for me it wasn't a cholesterol problem, it was a hereditary problem," said Ken, 65. "I would highly recommend both Dr. Murphy and Dr. Archibald to anyone. The whole team is just terrific and I'm very thankful they're here in our community."

The Mohawk Valley Vascular Center is a cooperative program of Radiology Associates of New Hartford and Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, an affiliate of Mohawk Valley Health System.

The Center is located within the Medical Imaging Department at our St. Luke’s Campus and has two state-of-the-art interventional suites.

Our focus is the prevention, early detection and treatment of various diseases with minimally invasive techniques using x-ray and other medical imaging technology.

The procedures performed at the Mohawk Valley Vascular Center carry less risk, result in less pain and have a shorter recovery time for patients when compared to open surgical procedures.

How the Center Began and Who We Are Today

The Center was created in 2000 as a collaboration between Dr. Christopher Max, Dr. Jorge Ferreiro, Dr. Gordon Archibald, Dr. Parvez Asmat, and Dr. J. Paul Badami to answer the need for non-invasive vascular surgery in the Mohawk Valley.

Today the Center, with its $1.8 million endovascular suite, provides the most comprehensive vascular and interventional radiology services available in the region.

"Faxton St. Luke’s has created a vascular center that major universities would be envious of," said Dr. Badami, Mohawk Valley Vascular Center Medical Director. "We are pleased to bring this advanced technology and level of care to our community, and we are always eager to stay on the cutting edge."
